  • Export all your notes as Markdown or plain text in a ZIP file.
  • Right-to-left notes display correctly, and Hebrew lettered lists continue as you type.
  • Gravity backs up your notes before an import replaces them, and handles changes across devices more safely.
  • You lose fewer edits when the same note changes on two devices.
  • Search results refresh after edits and undo.
  • Undo and drafts keep your latest text.
  • Sharing, exports and file pickers open reliably after you close a panel.

  • Export all your notes as Markdown or plain text.
  • Right-to-left notes and Hebrew lists display better.
  • Imports and backups are safer, and Gravity handles conflicting edits better.
  • Search results refresh more reliably.
  • Undo keeps your latest text.
  • Sharing a note from Gravity works more reliably.

  • A replace import now removes the replaced notes from iCloud too, so every synced device ends up with exactly the file's notes.
  • Before a replace import, Gravity backs up every note, Trash included, checks the backup and stops if it fails. It keeps the newest 10 beside the database.
  • gravity backups lists your recent backups. Restoring one straight after a replace undoes it.
  • A merge import marks only the notes it writes for upload. Importing one note uploads one note.
brew install tristanmanchester/tap/gravity-cli

  • On first launch, a short setup covers text size, the capture shortcut, iCloud sync and opening at login. You can run it again from the menu bar under Set Up Gravity.
  • Two larger text sizes: Huge and Largest.
  • Export each note as its own Markdown or plain text file from Import & Export in Settings.
  • Shift-Command-O opens the Notes window from any app. You can change it, or any other global shortcut, in Settings.
  • Hebrew, Arabic and other right-to-left notes lay out right to left, including checklists and lists.
  • When an import replaces your notes, it replaces them on every synced device, and Gravity saves a backup first. Import & Export in Settings lists recent backups.
  • Importing a few notes no longer re-uploads your whole library, and iCloud sync recovers from conflicts in seconds instead of minutes.
  • Changes you make with the gravity command-line tool appear straight away.
  • Fixed a crash on launch on macOS 15 Sequoia.

  • Page through search results with --offset, and sort gravity list by stream order, creation or last update with --sort.
  • Filter by creation date with --created-since.
  • gravity edit asks for --expect-version or --force, so you don't overwrite a newer change.
  • Purging a note queues its deletion from iCloud, and emptying the Trash takes 0.4 seconds instead of 6 on 5,000 notes.
  • purge and trash empty show each note's first line.
  • Gravity rejects notes over iCloud's 900,000-byte limit, and large notes no longer slow down search.
  • Clearer errors for read-only, non-SQLite and empty database files. One damaged note no longer blocks an export.
  • gravity sync status explains what to do about notes iCloud has quarantined.
  • The agent guide covers paging, editing, deletion and sync status, and maps requests like "delete completely" to commands.

  • Read and write your Mac's Gravity notes from Terminal with the gravity command, for scripts and AI agents.
  • Commands cover listing, searching, adding, appending to, editing, rescuing, archiving and trashing notes, plus tags, stats, export and import.
  • Add --json to any command for JSON output. Destructive commands ask for --yes and support --dry-run.
  • Changes you make sync to iCloud through the Mac app.
  • gravity doctor checks your database, gravity sync status shows what's waiting to sync, and gravity agent prints a guide for AI agents.
