Save notes from Claude and ChatGPT to your Gravity list
A lot of thinking happens in chat windows now. You plan a trip with Claude or chase down a bug in Codex, and the useful bits stay in that conversation, which nobody scrolls back through.
So Gravity now works inside them. Say "save this to Gravity" and the note is at the top of your list on your phone and Mac a moment later. It works in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, and Grok, plus any other AI app that supports MCP connectors.
What you can ask for
Capturing is the obvious one. "Save that itinerary to Gravity." "Add a todo to call the vet." A note that starts with todo: or idea: gets its tag and colour, the same as one you type in the app.
Then there's getting things back. "What did I note about the boiler?" searches your notes the way Gravity's own search does, archived notes included. "What did I capture last week?" and "show my idea: notes from September" list notes by date and tag, newest first.
And it can tidy up for you:
- "Tick off oat milk in my shopping note" changes that one line and leaves the rest alone.
- "Add the hotel address to my Lisbon note" appends a paragraph.
- "Bring my gift ideas back to the top" rescues the note, the same as swiping it right.
- "Archive the notes about the move" takes them off the list.
The tidying is where this gets good. Andrej Karpathy's append-and-review note, which Gravity is built on, has two halves: write everything into one list, then read back through it now and then and move up what still matters. The writing half was always easy. Now you can do the review half by asking: "go through my notes from October and bring back anything I haven't dealt with."
You decide what it can do
When you connect an app, Gravity asks what it may do. Untick "Add notes and change existing ones" and it can only read.
An AI app can't permanently delete anything. Trashing a note moves it to Deleted Notes, where you can restore it like any other note. Edits go through the same sync as your devices, so a change from Claude and a paragraph you're typing on your phone don't overwrite each other.
Gravity 2.2.0 adds an AI apps screen to Settings → Gravity Sync. It shows every app you've connected, and Disconnect cuts one off straight away. Notes come back with links, and tapping one opens that note in Gravity.
Notes your AI app reads go to that app's provider under their terms. Gravity keeps a record of which app changed which note for 90 days, without the note text. The privacy policy has the details.
How to connect
You need Gravity Sync, which is free during the beta. Turn it on in Gravity under Settings → Gravity Sync, then:
- In Claude, Gravity is in the connector directory. Open Settings → Connectors, find Gravity, and select Connect.
- In ChatGPT, add a custom MCP server with the address below and sign in when it asks. ChatGPT checks with you before each change.
- In Codex and Claude Code, it's a terminal command or two, listed in the guide.
- In Grok Bot, ask your bot to add a custom MCP server called gravity at the address below.
